19 May

Year four had a fabulous visit to Manor Farm, Bursledon, Hampshire on Tuesday 17th May as part of their summer topic on “Food Glorious Food.” There was a WW2 theme to their studies and they started by making vegetable soup and bread rolls. The students busily looked round the WW2 themed cottage and tried on gas masks and tin hats before going onto the their farm tour. Meeting the animals and visiting the vegetable garden were real highlights. They were able to milk Abby, the Jersey cow, who is old but still produces over 60 pints of milk a day. They gave bottled milk to the bull calves, cuddled the chickens and gobbled at the turkeys. Many thanks to the staff at the farm who made the trip so successful and to our staff from school (Mr. Petrie, Mr. Taylor, Miss Wonders, Mrs. Young and Mrs. Lawson).
