Yesterday afternoon we held our first “Familiarisation Day” for all new staff joining us in September. Though staff recruitment has been an area of significant focus this term, with fully recognise the importance of staff retention. On that note, we must again thank our Trustees, particularly Darren Gill who has offered support at every step in this process to date.
Following arrival and registration and safeguarding check, our new staff were welcomed to our school by Glenn Devenish. Mrs Middleton shared our Ethos and Values before going onto provide a curriculum overview. The growing importance on SEND & Inclusion was lead by Mrs Hemans with the morning concluding with a tour of our online learning platform and introduction to the tenets SDL (Self Directed Learning). The afternoon programme offered staff to spend time with their curriculum colleagues before closing the programme with David Jackson, Surrey County Council Advisor for Visually Impaired Students.
Feedback from visiting staff was positive and informative.
I have appreciated the support from staff in assisting a smooth transition from Church Crookham to the Focus School.
A generally useful day.
All very helpful and appreciated.
Thank you to our staff for their hospitality and warm welcome. Many thanks to our staff for organising such a positive event.
We are also very grateful for the goodwill of Gail Young who, at very late notice, managed to organise a very welcome lunch for all of the staff and to Carrie Tennent for getting the food set up in the staffroom.
