Welcome back after the Spring break!

The new term is going well and I felt it was time to update you with some school news.

Firstly, we would like to thank students for coming back in their summer uniform. Everyone is looking very smart and ready to begin the term and this definitely shows in the school photo which was recently taken.

I would like to say a big thank you to Annabel for her support with the school photos – fantastic work! I am happy to announce we are now holding our whole school assembly in the new school hall which has made a huge difference. Each week we reinforce our schools ethos and values; students hear the same messages and we get the chance to spend time as a whole school community.

Last week saw the Key Stage 2 department lead our assembly on leadership. Students did a fantastic job of delivering the assembly and senior school students were very respectful of their performance.

We are currently working with our post-16 students and reinforcing the need for them to be responsible around the school. We believe that any opportunity for leadership will greatly increase their skills for the world of work; any support with this would be gratefully received.

Recently students were entered for an external poetry competition and I am pleased to congratulate our 5 winners from Year 8. The students are:
Rosa Reynolds
Dani Turner
Jermaine Lynes
Alexia Critchley
Rochelle James

With regards to our Primary students that took part, details are to follow.

Huge congratulations to them!

It has been a pleasure to see students attending choir and sports activities during their lunch break.
During my weekly book scrutiny I saw some fantastic work being produced within Food Technology. It is clearly visible that the students take pride in this subject.

During the SDL skills programme this week Year 8 have been working on creativity and logic. This has led to them planning an Eco Event for the end of the summer term – I am sure we will see great things!

School house volleyball tournaments have taken place and the enthusiasm from the students has been great.

I would like to take this opportunity to ask parents to kindly continue to support the student’s revision at this important time.

We would also like to announce that Miss Wonders (our current Year 4 teacher) has been appointed to join the Key Stage 2 team as a permanent member of staff from the end of the summer term.

Lastly, I would just like to inform parents and students that I will be away for two weeks from Wednesday 4th May as I will be having a minor operation. During this time Mr Still will be covering my role.

Please do not hesitate to contact Mr Still should you have any questions or concerns, he will be more than happy to help.

I hope to be able to offer further feedback in this format as we continue through the term.

Thank you for your continued support.

Best regards,

Mrs Middleton
