Weeks of planning, hours of preparation, secret ‘dressing’ of the new school hall, much laughter and some tears shed…. And then, on Thursday 7th July 2016 our ‘dream team’ of year 13 students were ready to present their vision to the staff. Staff were asked to attend in formal evening wear and were photographed in our finery before entering the hall.
We were met by our Y13 students dressed in their colour co-ordinated outfits and looking very sophisticated, they led us to our table in the transformed school hall; which now looked more like a beautiful wedding venue. Tables were dressed; with flowers and candles, polished silverware, sparkling glasses and handmade menus.
Pre-dinner drinks were a delightful choice of refreshing mocktails, which we sipped whilst listening to the school band playing contemporary tunes and chatting with our allotted table companions. The meal came, one amazingly tasty course at time, the quality (and quantity) of food was wonderful and of course our waiters and waitresses were attentive to every need! Whilst most of us were becoming full to the brim, one or two members of staff managed a second helping!
As the meal drew to a close some of the ‘old’ members of staff were asked to say a few words to regale the room with memories of this fantastic year group. These led to many fond memories, lots of laughter and I’m sure a few teary eyes.
We have many photographs to remind us of this superb event and the fifteen amazing students who made it happen. We want to say a huge thank you to them and also of course to the equally amazing crew of volunteers who helped behind the scenes. This meal and these students will be fondly remembered by us all for many years to come.
We wish you all the very best of luck for the future and look forward to hearing of your successes.
Thank you ever so much for all the staff at Hindhead Campus.
Staff would also like to note the contributions of our parents working hard behinds the scenes, Wayne and Anna Lynes, Rob and Abigail Young, Riki Elkins, Jo Hill and Jo Penson (and all the unseen supporters).
